DALLAS — Heavy storms hammering parts of Dallas led to some inconvenient conditions for many people across Dallas on Wednesday.
”It’s beyond frustration,” business owner Aniz Sabuwala said.
Flooding fueled frustration around Sunrise Recycling on South Lamar Street in South Dallas. Sabuwala had to, once again, shut down operations due to weather. Water could be seen flooding his metal yard and on his heavy equipment. Water was flowing into his office. Workers had to be sent home.
"Two workers had to leave, because of this," Sabuwala said. "They couldn’t do it. I mean they are hourly.”
Sabuwala says drainage is a recurring issue that he has been complaining about to the City of Dallas and other agencies. He said he continues to get the run-around.
"[Texas Department of Transportation] is blaming rail. City is blaming Tx-DOT and rail. And rail does not respond because they say we are federal.”
Not too far away near Pleasant Grove, road crews were working hard in the rain.
“It’s making more work for us,” one contractor said.
The team was toughing the weather and setting up barricades near Great Trinity Forest Way.
Heavy rain was a major inconvenience as the PGA kicked off the AT&T Byron Nelson golf tournament. The course was covered with puddles of water. Still, Austin Christmas and his son Conner came ready with umbrellas and chairs, hoping to watch some of the action.
"It’s just the Pro-Am day, so It’s not going to affect any of the main stuff," Christmas said. "So, we just want to get out here and see them."
Unfortunately, the rain caused too many delays at the golf course. Organizers cancelled events to the public by early afternoon. They are planning to invite the public back to enjoy events Thursday morning.
