Park trails, streets flood during heavy rainfall in Dallas

Signs of flooding were obvious around many public spaces across the City of Dallas.

DALLAS — Rain pouring across North Texas caused some weather-related inconvenience on Monday.

Flooding along White Rock Creek in North Dallas lead to some problems around nearby Harry Moss Park. All of the soccer fields were covered in water, trails were not easily accessible, and parking lots resembled rushing rivers.

Some streets were blocked off along Goforth Road in the Lake Highlands area of North Dallas.

”It gets bad. Every single time. Every time it rains, this street constantly floods,” explained Joel Beck.

Rain also sent high water from creeks toward some neighbors’ homes.

The flooding did provide some relief and a playground for Beck and his dog. She splashed around and played fetch in the flood water.

“She loves to play in the water,” Beck said.

Signs of flooding were also obvious around many public spaces across the City of Dallas. Lake levels around White Rock Lake are increasing. Parts of the trail aren’t accessible for recreational use. The rapid flow along the spillway has become a popular spot for gawkers.

Once the rain breaks, it will take a few days for things to dry out enough to get folks back for full use of the public spaces around town.
