Election Day in North Texas

Election Day Tuesday will mostly be a nice autumn day. The morning will start off with some scattered showers, but heavy rain (or severe weather) is not expected. If you are heading to the polls early, grab the umbrella! You'll also need to give yourself extra drive time due to wet roads.
Rain will quickly move east and should mostly be out of the area by mid-morning. Sunshine is expected the remainder of the day. It'll feel noticeably cooler and drier this afternoon.

A quick look for the rest of the week:

Wednesday will be another nice and dry day, but rain chances return later in the week. Showers and some storms are possible on Thursday, Friday, and Friday night. Right now, the severe weather threat looks minimal but will continue to be monitored. Any additional rain could cause some flood concern, especially along the Red River counties.

Where in Texas will rain last the longest?

Anywhere along I-35 and east starts the day with rain. The means North Texas, Central Texas, South Texas, East Texas and southeast Texas will start out with showers and even isolated storms. If you're heading to the polls early, a good general rule to follow today will be to prep for wet roads and scattered rain. While severe weather is not expected, we could see an isolated strong storm in far southeast Texas between Houston and the Louisiana border. Most of the rain will be cleared out of the state by midday today.

What about temperatures across Texas?

It'll be chilly for the western third of the state to start the day. Areas in the northern Panhandle will be in the 30s! Highs will generally range from the low 60s in the Panhandle and West Texas, the upper 60s for North Texas and the 70s for the southern half of Texas. Every Texas locations will be cooler than Monday.
