DALLAS —
BIG changes have arrived!
Saturday brought wind gusts of 50+ mph for North Texas along with temperatures that ranged from 30 to 40 degrees lower than Friday!
Gusts will calm overnight, but will stay northerly at 10 to 20 mph.
This will help temperatures fall to a widespread freeze likely by Sunday morning. Lows in the mid- to upper-20s look likely for most. If winds calm, we could see some areas of patchy frost come daybreak Sunday. Not the coldest air we've seen so far this season, but certainly cold especially when you factor in the wind. While the wind will not be as strong as Saturday, there will be a breeze which will make it feel like the teens and 20s Sunday morning.
Snow in North Texas!?
It happened! Flurries were seen flying across the Metroplex mid-afternoon Saturday. A few locations could continue to see flurries overnight.
There is a chance of some light accumulations of snow along the Red River mainly in northeastern North Texas overnight. Areas from Sherman to Bonham, to Paris to Sulphur Springs could see snow showers that produce some light amounts of snow. Anything more than a dusting or coating on elevated and grassy surfaces looks unlikely. The dusting, if it happens, clears by mid-morning Sunday.
Sunday
After a freezing start, temperatures will climb with the help of sunshine.
By the afternoon, temps will hover around 50°.
Tailgating for the Cowboys playoff game will be chilly, but dry.
