DFW Weather: Record heat possible this week

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect today as highs will be well above 100°. Near record or record tying heat is possible the next couple of days.

DALLAS — High heat continues for most of the state through the end of the month. Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories will be in effect this whole week.

Quick facts

  • Triple digits continue
  • Record heat possible to start the workweek
  • Rain very unlikely to end July and heading into August

Record heat?

It's possible!

Highs will be well above the 100° mark this entire week with record heat or near record heat likely at least Monday and Tuesday.

The records are 106° on Monday and 107° on Tuesday. High temps on those days should be right around that mark.

The record highs jump a bit Wednesday through Friday as our high temps dip a degree or two, so those records look safe as of now.

Excessive Heat Warning

The Heat Advisory has been upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning for Monday, which is in effect for all of North Texas.

Simply, this just means temps and heat index values will be even higher than this weekend.

Continue to practice heat safety as heat like this can be dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken.

Fire Danger

Because of drought and dry conditions, almost all counties along and west of I-35W are under burn bans. Always check with your county for the latest information as more counties could get added to burn bans at any time and some counties take it day by day.

Fire danger will remain elevated for the western half of North Texas for the foreseeable future. Fire danger is not zero across the eastern half of North Texas, it is concerning, but not as high as areas to the west. Until all of North Texas sees rain, cooler temps, higher humidity, or a combination of all three, fire danger will continue.

10-day forecast

100s look to be sticking around through at least early August, but there also looks like there MIGHT be a little relief toward the end of the 10-day forecast. Here's hoping!
