DFW weather timeline: Storms? Snow flurries? Freezing temps? Here's what to expect

Old Man Winter pays North Texas a quick visit this weekend.

Old Man Winter pays North Texas a quick visit this weekend! An arctic cold front is barreling down the plains Friday, with eyes set on Texas!

Here's a timeline of what to expect:

EARLY SATURDAY

Midnight to 9 a.m: This is when the arctic cold front should be arriving in North Texas, plowing into DFW around midnight and rapidly dropping temperatures in its wake. By Saturday morning, North Texas will feel the chill!

Some lingering showers could lead to snow flurries for a brief time Saturday morning, mostly in northern parts of North Texas. Think northern Denton and Collin counties to the Red River. No travel disruption or accumulations are expected.

But whether you see wintry precipitation or not, you'll wake up to winter, with temps in the low- to mid-30s. Sustained north winds up to 30 mph should make those temps feel even colder, with wind chills as lows as the 20s.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Not much new to report for the Saturday afternoon and evening forecast. The cold weather will simply stay cold, with temps not expected to get out of the low 40s before falling back into the 30s by nightfall.

SUNDAY

The rest of the weekend stays COLD, with our arctic air sticking around! Despite clearing skies Saturday and sunshine on Sunday, highs stay in the 40s!

MONDAY

The good news? The cold won't last forever. Old Man Winter packs his bags Sunday night, and by Monday, we're back to the 50s and 60s!
