DFW weather: Wind advisory in effect after severe storms in North Texas

More storms are possible overnight, but they will not be severe.

DALLAS —

The severe threat is over

Phew.... The severe weather threat across North Texas has ended. 

It was a busy day, with numerous reports of wind and hail damage. Some of the peak gusts were in excess of 80 mph.

The cold front is well east of our area and windy conditions will take over. A wind advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, with wind gusts of 40 mph expected.

More storms overnight... they won't be severe

Another round of showers and storms are possible overnight as we see the backside of this potent storm system wrap around into North Texas. 

There will be no severe weather with this round, but pockets of heavy rain and thunder are expected.

Nicer days ahead!

Any lingering overnight rain will be out of North Texas by daybreak.
