Denton, Kaufman and Rockwall Counties join Dallas in issuing disaster declarations following Tuesday's storms

DENTON, Texas — Denton, Kaufman, Rockwall counties joined Dallas County in issuing disaster declarations after severe storms, which sparked tornado warnings in the Richardson and Garland areas Tuesday, left widespread damage and thousands without power.

Denton County Emergency Management reported downed trees, downed power lines and high water in the county.

Oncor reports power outages are affecting 23,050 customers in Denton County as of shortly after 6 p.m.

Denton also saw some of the highest wind speeds reported during the storms Tuesday morning at 83 mph.

Also in Denton County Tuesday, the polling location for voters in precincts 2091, 2092, 2093, 2094 and 2098 moved from Prestonwood Baptist Church to the Lewisville ISD Career Center East at 2553 FM 544, Lewisville, Texas.

Kaufman County issued a disaster declaration after the Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management reported fallen trees, damage to buildings and structures, and widespread power outages.

Oncor reported 16,195 customers are being affected by power outages in Kaufman County as of shortly after 6:30 p.m.

In Rockwall County, Oncor reports power outages are affecting 17,754 customers as of shortly after 6 p.m.
