LIVE RADAR
Wednesday morning
Storms are moving into southern North Texas with strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and lightning.
The severe threat is low but the strongest parts of the storms could become severe with the main threat being strong wind gusts of up to 60-65 mph. Isolated instances of up to quarter-size hail will be possible as well. The tornado threat looks very low, but not completely zero.
Lingering rain is possible as well in and around DFW through the mid-morning hours on Wednesday before any activity moves out the area. Wednesday afternoon will be dry.
A Flood Watch is in effect for the eastern half of North Texas Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Any heavy rain could cause more flooding issues. Areas under the Flood Watch have the best chance to see heavy rain overnight into Wednesday morning. Remember, NEVER DRIVE INTO OR THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS!
Warm and muggy
The middle part of the week will feel like summer! Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s. Southerly winds keep bringing moisture to the area. That means the heat index is back. Some heat index values will be in the 100s this week. Make sure to take heat precautions!
More rain?
After any lingering rain Wednesday morning moves out, a brief break from the rain will occur for most of the rest of the week. As of now Thursday and Friday are looking dry. We could see additional activity Saturday and Sunday afternoons, but generally coverage will be low. Better chances may be by early next week on Monday.
