DALLAS — It has been an active weather year across the country, including here in North Texas. In fact, every day for 35 days spanning from late April through early June posed a severe weather threat somewhere in the country.
That included a few systems that were absolute soakers for Texas.
One word to describe North Texas over the last two weeks? Drenched.
Just about every location in North Texas is above normal when it comes to this season's rain totals.
The rain totals vary quite a bit across North Texas. The lower numbers are to the west with higher numbers to the east. But just about everyone has seen heavy rain at some point or another, including over 10 inches in McKinney and Greenville and more than eight inches in Dallas.
Specifically at DFW, the first five days of the month have accumulated a total of 3.57 inches of rain. That is nearly the entire month's normal rainfall.
The active season has now landed us as the 5th wettest year to date on record.

DFW's 28+ inches of rain that has fallen so far is more than what 41 other years recorded over the entire year!
Every month except for February has totaled higher than normal rainfall in 2024.
The yearly average rainfall for DFW is about 37 inches. We are only halfway done with 2024 and we are less than 10 inches away from reaching the yearly average rainfall.
