DALLAS — After a normal schedule Wednesday, the Dallas Independent School District is canceling classes for Thursday, as wintry, icy weather is expected to stick around and potentially worsen overnight.
Dallas ISD officials made the announcement around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Several minutes later, Fort Worth ISD officials announced their district would also be canceling classes Thursday.
Earlier Wednesday, as students and staff at both large districts went to school on a normal schedule, district officials said they were planning meetings to discuss winter weather plans.
Their approaches were in line with most major school districts in North Texas on Wednesday; many had a normal class schedule before making the call the cancel classes Thursday, as slick road conditions are expected to worsen overnight.
