DALLAS — Dallas officially opened up two cooling centers Tuesday to help residents beat the heat.
The "Beat the Heat" cooling centers provide a safe, comfortable space for people to come, stay cool and reduce their electricity.
The two centers are a part of a long list of cooling centers available to Dallas residents throughout the summer months. All city cooling centers will be open during normal business hours.
For those needing longer relief from the heat, DART will host extended hours at their transit locations.
For homeowners without air conditioning, the city is giving out free portable AC coolers and window AC units, though supplies are limited.
