ABC chief meteorologist Rob Marciano joined News 8 Daybreak live from the Trinity River in Dallas Saturday morning to give perspective on the amount of rain that has fallen in the state of Texas.
Marciano likened the swollen Trinity to the Mississippi River.
"You've got these amazing levees and dikes that protect the city and you've got your pump system...overwhelmed by all this rain you've gotten, especially in the last 24 hours," he said to News 8 chief meteorologist Pete Delkus. "It reminds me a lot of New Orleans."
"To see this much rainfall this far away from the Gulf of Mexico is mind-boggling to me," Marciano added.
Marciano spent four years in the late 90s doing weather at a TV station in Lake Charles, La., much closer to the Gulf than the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Eighty-five percent of North Texas' average annual rainfall has already fallen this year.
