A night of wicked hail in North Texas

WFAA viewers shared photos of baseball and softball size hail from areas including Denton County, Frisco, McKinney, Flower Mound and Highland Village.  Large hail crashed through vehicle windows across the area.

A night of wicked weather brought large hail, damage, and at least one report of a tornado Sunday.

WFAA viewers shared photos of baseball and softball-sized hail from areas including Denton County, Frisco, McKinney, Flower Mound and Highland Village. Large hail crashed through vehicle windows across the area.

Earlier in the evening Sunday, a Tornado Warning was issued in Denton County. The Justin Fire Department reported a tornado sighting with tree damage, but there was no immediate reports of structure damage.

Storms continued to move east of the immediate DFW area, leaving behind dry conditions. WFAA Chief Meteorologist Pete Delkus said a brief shower was possible in that area early Monday morning.

North Texans should keep an eye to the sky as the possibility of severe weather returns early in the week. Delkus said thunderstorms could develop late Tuesday in far West Texas and will move toward the DFW area.

Some storms could turn severe west of Fort Worth Tuesday evening. Of greater concern are storms that could turn severe on Wednesday.

“There’s a 60 percent change of widespread rain and the possibility of severe weather on Wednesday.” said Delkus.
