DALLAS — You're not reading this wrong: A Freeze Warning in place for surrounding areas of North Texas through Wednesday morning, as temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s.
Locations under the warning, which include counties near the Red River and into East Texas, may experience the first freeze of the season.
Here's a map of the counties under the warning:
After the terrible summer we just endured, this week is the moment many of you have been waiting for: Our first real taste of fall.
It even brought an end to our dry streak. And when the rain moved out Sunday, cooler started to move into North Texas to begin the week.
Temperatures on Monday morning were generally 10-15 degrees cooler than Sunday morning, and we weren't done! Colder air continued to settle in with temperatures around 50 degrees on Tuesday morning.
Lows on Wednesday morning are expected to be in the 40s (some places in the 30s!), with high temperatures in the 60s through Wednesday.
Wednesday morning will bring the coolest air since March 24. A few spots may even rival some record lows.
IF DFW gets into the 30s Wednesday morning, it would be one of the earliest times on record.
It’s a true taste of fall! Yes!
As we get into next weekend, temperatures do moderately kick back into the lower 80s, but this is close to normal and certainly better than the 94 degrees high we saw on Saturday -- just one degree off the all-time high for this date on record.
We're really experiencing a bit of everything this week.
