DALLAS — U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport seized 10 kilograms of ketamine in cargo that was disguised as children’s board games, officials confirmed.
Officers with the Customs and Border Patrol’s Advanced Targeting Unit (ATU) partnered with CBP’s National Targeting Center (NTC) to track two shipments arriving at DFW bound for Miami from London, according to a press release.
“Multiple packages of a crystalized white substance” tested positive for ketamine following an examination, officials say.
“Global criminal networks utilize a wide array of tactics to smuggle dangerous and deadly drugs into the United States, but our CBP officers are highly trained in detecting and stopping these schemes,” said Dallas Area Port Director Jayson Ahern. “Our drug interdiction efforts are vital to protecting American communities from the scourge of dangerous and deadly drugs.”
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has hallucinogenic effects.
