FORT WORTH, Texas — The Stockyards and Downtown are two of Fort Worth's most popular destinations, helping attract 11 million visitors to the city in 2023. Now, the entertainment districts will have a dedicated bus line to move passengers between both areas and connect visitors to nearby train stations.
Trinity Metro's Orange Line will run every 15 minutes from 5 a.m. and 1 a.m. between downtown and the Stockyards along North Main Street. The bus will also make stops at the Fort Worth T&P Station, Fort Worth Central Station and the Trinity Metro TEXRail North Side Station.
The new Trinity Metro line was created in partnership with Visit Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Stockyards and downtown business leaders, according to a press release from Trinity Metro.
"By linking the city’s world-class entertainment and business districts, we’re not only enhancing access for the millions of visitors who come here each year but also creating a dynamic draw for our residents and businesses who call Fort Worth home," Rich Andreski, president and CEO of Trinity Metro, said in a press release.
The bus will have a district look and unique features, the release states, teasing a Western theme.
“Trinity Metro’s new Orange Line helps ensure we’re meeting the demand in some of our busiest entertainment districts while also using transportation to help spur even more economic development," Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker said in the release.
The service will begin running on Sept. 15 and will be free to ride through Oct. 31, 2024, the release states. Trinity Metro will host a launch party to celebrate the buses Saturday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., featuring live music, armadillo races and line dancing.
Investment in the Stockyards has picked up in recent months. In June, the city council approved a 9-figure expansion of the Stockyards. A private developer plans to add about 300,000 square feet of commercial space to the area by 2032.
