If 2 roundtrip Southwest tickets sound too good to be true...that's because they are

Not only is the post fake, but here's the kicker: the company isn't even 69 years old. This year will mark Southwest's 51st anniversary.

DALLAS — How's a deal for two free roundtrip tickets sound?

Pretty sweet, right?!?! Almost too good to be true?

Well, that's because it is.

Southwest Airlines posted to its Facebook page addressing a scam offering roundtrip tickets for the company's "69th anniversary."

Not only is the post fake, but here's the kicker: the company isn't even 69 years old. This year will mark Southwest's 51st anniversary, the company stated in the Facebook post.

The scam was posted by a Facebook page entitled "Southwest Air Fans." and says, "We've decided to celebrate our 69th anniversary giving 2 round trip tickets to everyone who types (Done) by 5pm Sunday."

The fake Facebook post had garnered 1.4 million comments as of the taking of the screenshot posted by the real Southwest Airlines.

Most of the reaction to the post surrounded gratitude for Southwest flagging the post.

Southwest's real special offers will be posted in a standalone section on its website, which you can view here.
