DALLAS — It's the week before Christmas, and the holiday rush is upon us.
Insurance and travel group AAA projected that year-end travel is expected to rebound to almost pre-pandemic levels in the last two weeks of December, possibly pointing to packed roads and packed airports.
AAA said more than 8.8 million Texans - a 32% increase from last year - will travel more than 50 miles from home this holiday season. While that total is still down 8% from 2019, it's still a jump from 2020.
Most Texans - nearly 8.3 million - are planning to drive to their destinations, according to AAA. Nearly 335,000 people will fly.
