Flying out of DFW Airport this Thanksgiving? Here's what you need to know about parking

Airport officials say they are anticipating "very high parking volumes" during the Thanksgiving holiday.

DALLAS — Travel has been the topic of headlines across the U.S. this year as people look to get back on planes for some sense of normalcy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And this Thanksgiving will be no different.

The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is getting ready for a big travel period this holiday and is giving a heads-up to travelers who expect to use the airport's parking services.

The airport said in a tweet it is anticipating "very high parking volumes and terminal garages at or near capacity" through the Thanksgiving holiday.

In response to this, the airport said it will not be accepting discounted prepaid parking bookings from Nov. 19 through Nov. 27. This year's Thanksgiving Day is Thursday, Nov. 25.

DFW Airport is recommending customers arrive early ahead of their flights in order to find a space if they choose to park there.

"There will still be limited spaces available for drive-up customers on a first-come, first-served basis," the airport said in a tweet.

The airport said customers may need to use a different terminal garage than they wanted and use the Terminal Link shuttles or Skylink trains.

Travelers can also park at a DART, TEXRail or TRE station and use those trains to get to their terminals at the airport.
