American Airlines Group Inc. is adding flights for college football fans to root on their favorite teams during bowl season.
With Southern Methodist University set to take on Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Dec. 21, American (Nasdaq: AAL) is adding an extra flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Harrisburg Airport on Dec. 20, and an extra flight back to DFW on Dec. 22.
The winner of that match-up will go on to face the Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31. The carrier added an additional flight from Boise Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport International the morning of the game at State Farm Stadium. The following day, an extra flight will take fans back to Boise.
The airline is also adding flights for the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. On Dec. 31, an extra flight will be added to take fans from Phoenix to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and an extra return flight is added for Jan. 1. The slot is currently still open for who Arizona State will face. If the University of Texas defeats Clemson on Dec. 21, the Longhorns will advance to the Peach Bowl.
American Airlines said that more flights will be added down the road for later rounds of the College Football Playoff.
