WISE COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed and five people were injured in a head-on collision in Wise County Saturday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred around 9:17 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 on U.S. Highway 287 near Hubbard Street in Alvord, Texas which is north of Decatur in Wise County, according to a report from the department.
The crash occurred when a vehicle driving north failed to negotiate a curve and lost control, driving across the median and hitting a second vehicle head-on, according to DPS.
Two passengers in the vehicle that lost control died in the crash, the report states. Phillip Jacob Pennartz, 58, and Tina Marie Pennartz, 54, of Wichita Falls died. The driver, 25-year-old Emily Marie Pennartz, and passenger 6-year-old Trace Pennartz were flown to Fort Worth hospitals with serious injuries.
The occupants of the other vehicle, Bryan Rahm, 36, Adam Brooks, 40 and Carlton Sherman, 38, were flown to hospitals with serious injuries.
Both of the deceased passengers were pronounced dead on the scene, the report states. The incident is under investigation, the department said.
