Amazon truck goes off downtown Dallas interstate bridge, shutting down all lanes

An 18-wheeler went off the roadway and was hanging off a bridge near downtown Dallas Tuesday, prompting the interstate to close for several hours.

DALLAS — All southbound lanes of Interstate 345 were closed Tuesday morning as an 18-wheeler was hanging from a bridge, officials said.

Dallas County Sheriff's deputies responded to an accident around 11:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-345 and I-45 near Live Oak Street, according to a social media post from the Sheriff's office.

TxDOT cameras show an 18-wheeler hanging partially off the roadway. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) said the Amazon truck lost control due to the wet roads. There was major damage to the bridge but the driver was not hurt, DCSO said.

As of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 all southbound lanes of I-345 were reopened, according to TxDOT.

I-345 connects U.S. 75 to I-45 through the east side of downtown Dallas.

Amazon said in a statement to WFAA that they were thankful no one was seriously hurt and are cooperating with law enforcement with their investigation.
