Animal remnants spread across I-635 shut down three lanes of southbound traffic in North Texas

According to the Balch Springs Police Department, the closure lasted several hours.

BALCH SPRINGS, Texas — Three lanes of southbound traffic on Interstate 635 in Balch Springs were shut down Wednesday afternoon due to what appeared to be alligator and chicken remnants in the roadway.

According to a Facebook post from the Balch Spring Police Department, drivers traveling southbound on the interstate encountered the closure just before the US-175 ramp. The department said it lasted several hours.

TxDOT cameras showed a major backup on I-635 with the chicken and alligator remnants spread across multiple lanes.

Police said someone "lost their load" and cleaning crews had to come to clean up the mess. Balch Springs PD told WFAA that the truck belonged to Dar Pro Solutions.

Darling Ingredients, which is part of Dar Pro Solutions, released the following statement on the incident:

"We deeply regret this incident occurred. Upon being made aware of the incident, we launched an internal investigation and are cooperating with all relevant authorities."
