2 killed, 1 injured after being ejected from a truck into Lake Ray Hubbard, police say

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. Sunday, June 9 on Rowlett Road, Garland police said.

ROWLETT, Texas — Three people were ejected from a pickup truck after it crashed into a guardrail on Rowlett Road, just east of Roan Road, police said. 

The car was traveling east on Rowlett Road when it lost control and hit a guardrail, police said. Two people were found dead at the scene and one was transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said. 

Garland PD has identified the victims as 19-year-old Carlos Villalta and 19-year-old Cristian Rodriquez of Garland.

"We send our sincerest condolences to both families during this time," the department said.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. Sunday, June 9 on Rowlett Road, police said. As of 9:23 a.m., the north and southbound lanes of Rowlett Road were closed due to the accident, according to Rowlett police. 

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Garland police said. 

The Garland Police Department traffic unit is investigating what caused the crash, police said.
