Earliest commuters in North Texas – and who gets to sleep in

North Texans who are getting out the door earlier than most Americans may appreciate falling back with Daylight saving time more than others!

FORT WORTH, Texas — An hour back from the end of Daylight saving time meant a little more sleep for all of us, but it could've meant more for some people in a North Texas city that has one of the earliest commutes in the country!

Fort Worth, we’re talking to y'all! Did that extra hour make a difference?

A study from LLC.org using Census Bureau data shows Cowtown ranks within the top 25 cities in the nation for the earliest commute start times.

Fort Worth came in at 24th with a little less than 30% of commuters - basically one out of four drivers in the city - getting on the road before 7 a.m. each morning!

Compare that to the highest ranked city – Clarksville, Tennessee – where 40% of commuters are out the door before then. The study attributes that statistic to the strong manufacturing ties in that city.

If you want to sleep in, get a gig in Plano! About 22% of people there are getting started after 8:30 a.m.

Wherever you are and whenever you get on the road, we see y'all getting up and grinding here in North Texas!

The time change may have added an hour to your sleep, but it can still cause a disruption to your routine. Be sure to stay alert on your commute to and from, as conditions may not be what you're used to.

Hopefully this extra hour back will make waking up feel like less of a 'job' itself.
