NEW YORK — A recently released dashcam video shows the scary moment a New York driver in a rental truck nearly hit a road worker while crashing into his equipment.
The crash happened at a work zone on I-81 in Whitney Point, N.Y. In the video, you can see the road worker put his hands out right before a Penske rental truck comes into the frame from the left side. The road worker moved to the right before the truck smashed into the worker's nearby equipment and knocked his safety hard hat off his head.
There were no serious injuries, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
"To everyone on the road: These crashes are avoidable! Slow down, move over if possible, and stay alert in work zones—these simple actions can save lives," the department said in a Facebook post.
