Motorcyclist hits Dallas police car, causes major backup along N. Central Expressway

A motorcyclist hit a marked DPD patrol car, according to Dallas police. The crash caused a major backup.

DALLAS — A motorcycle crash into a Dallas police car caused a major backup on N. Central Expressway, according to the Dallas Police Department.

According to DPD, the crash happened around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday in the 7400 block of North Central Expressway. A motorcyclist crashed into a marked Dallas police squad car in the southbound lanes and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police said. DPD said no officers were hurt.

As a result, the Dallas Police Department launched an investigation into the crash, shutting down the southbound lanes of the expressway. That shutdown caused a major backup, putting hundreds of drivers into standstill traffic.

According to a spokesperson with DPD, the highway will not open back up until police wrap up their investigation.
