IRVING, Texas — All westbound lanes of Interstate 635 are shut down indefinitely following an incident that caused major damage to the MacArthur Boulevard overpass Thursday, the Irving Fire Department (IFD) said.
According to the Irving Fire Department, the MacArthur Boulevard overpass sustained structural damage after an 18-wheeler hauling a large concrete block struck the underside of it.
IFD said the driver is okay and crews are working to assess the scene.
TxDOT cameras in the area show significant damage to the bottom of the overpass, debris can be seen littered across all lanes of traffic.
According to TxDOT, the incident happened at 4:15 p.m.
