IRVING, Texas — All westbound lanes of Interstate 635 in Irving reopened Friday morning after a truck crashed into an overpass Thursday evening.

"Lanes reopened around midnight following cleanup and some temporary repairs," the Texas Department of Transportation said in a statement.  "Other work will be scheduled in the future."

The highway was shut down following an incident that caused major damage to the MacArthur Boulevard overpass Thursday, the Irving Fire Department (IFD) said.

According to the Irving Fire Department, the MacArthur Boulevard overpass sustained structural damage after an 18-wheeler hauling a large concrete block struck the underside of it.

Officials said the driver was OK.

TxDOT cameras in the area showed significant damage to the bottom of the overpass, debris can be seen littered across all lanes of traffic.

According to TxDOT, the incident happened at 4:15 p.m.
