DALLAS — The holiday travel season is coming to a brief close before it picks back up for Christmas, but travelers heading back from Thanksgiving hit a jam at DFW Airport.
Airport officials said traffic is normal now, but cars were bumper-to-bumper at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Sunday night, and the traffic was slow-moving. According to an airport spokesperson, holiday travel was the cause of the heavy traffic.
A spokesperson told WFAA that International Parkway was backed up in both directions, and all terminals were affected by the traffic. They also said leaving the airport was not the issue, getting to it was.
DFW Aiport officials said that police helped direct the traffic and encouraged anyone going to the airport to allow plenty of extra time. Usually, they would advise arriving at the airport 2 hours before a flight, but with the traffic, they suggested arriving 3-4 hours before departure.
