GARLAND, Texas — High water from heavy rains was blocking part of Interstate 635 in Garland early Tuesday, police said.
Westbound 635 at Centerville Road was closed due to high water across the roadway, according social media posts from Garland police officials shortly before 5 a.m. By 7 a.m., the highway had reopened.
One vehicle got stuck in the water, and one person from that vehicle had to be rescued, police said.
The incident caused heavy traffic in the area, with westbound lanes backed up to the south of Interstate 30.
High water was also being reported along northbound Interstate 35E in Dallas, near Inwood Road.
Severe storms and heavy rain moved through North Texas overnight, and more storms and rain were expected through the morning and the rest of the day.
