Driver goes into Trinity River after Fort Worth crash shuts down highway lanes

The crash occurred around 5:13 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 on a State Highway 121 bridge near Sylvania Avenue, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Multiple lanes of Texas 121 were closed Tuesday morning after a crash led one of the drivers involved to jump into a nearby river, Fort Worth police said.

The crash occurred around 5:13 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 on a Texas 121 bridge near Sylvania Avenue, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. All lanes except for one were closed early Tuesday morning, however by 7 a.m. all lanes were clear, according to TxDOT. 

After the accident, one of the drivers involved left their vehicle and got into the river below the bridge, Fort Worth police said in a statement. Multiple units responded to talk the driver out of the water, police said. 

By 6:30 a.m., the driver was removed from the water, police said.
