Fatal six-car crash caused by rear-ending incident kills 1 person, injures 2, Fort Worth police say

A chain-reaction crash killed one person and injured two people in Fort Worth Thursday, police said.

One person was killed in a chain-reaction crash that started with a small car rear-ending a sedan, Fort Worth police said. 

Officers responded to the crash at 5:44 a.m. Oct. 31 to Interstate 35W at Sycamore School Road, according to a press release from the Fort Worth Police Department. 

The crash is near a separate incident in the northbound lanes of I-35W which caused traffic to slow near Everman Parkway. 

A passenger car rear-ended a sedan, starting a chain reaction involving five passenger vehicles and one commercial vehicle, the release states. Two occupants of the sedan were taken to a hospital in serious condition, one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states. 

As of 9:41 a.m., all southbound lanes remained closed to traffic. All traffic is being forced to exit at the IH20 East Ramp, according to TxDOT.
