DALLAS — A crash into a power pole shut down all lanes of Interstate 30 in eastern Dallas County early Wednesday, officials said.
One westbound lane was reopened by around 5:20 a.m., but eastbound lanes remained closed.
The crash involved a truck crashing into a power pole, which could be seen knocked down and laying across the roadway, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
Officials said a tractor-trailer truck left the roadway at the St. Francis Avenue exit and crashed into a power pole. As a result, the pole and power lines fell down, with the power lines across both directions of the highway.
Crews were also responding to a reported hazmat spill related to the crash.
The crash happened on a busy stretch of Interstate 30, near St. Francis Avenue, which is also near Jim Miller Road, Buckner Boulevard and where I-30 meets U.S. 80.
Traffic was heavily backed up in the area at 4:30 a.m.
Officials have not said what caused the crash, though it happened as heavy rain and storms were moving through North Texas. There were reports of ponding and slick roads across the area, but most of the storms had cleared out of the region by 4:30 a.m.
There was no initial information on if anyone was injured.
