DALLAS — Texas commuters will face some upcoming closures on Interstate 35E through Dallas.

All lanes of southbound I-35E between Trinity River and Marsalis Avenue will be closed overnight on April 2 and April 3 for overhead bridge construction, officials announced Monday.

The main lane closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 to 10 a.m. Sunday, April 3, and then again from 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 3 to 6 a.m. Monday, April 4.

During the closures, southbound I-35E traffic will continue on the southbound I-35E frontage road and take the southbound I-35E entrance ramp to return to I-35E.

The closures come as part of the Southern Gateway Project, a $666 million design-build construction project by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) aimed to rebuild and widen I-35E south of downtown Dallas, as well as widen U.S. 67 between I-35E and I-20 and the I-35E/U.S. 67 split.

Officials said construction activities and lane closures are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

However, you can stay up to date on construction progress, lane closures and traffic changes by signing up for text alerts and sending the message “The Southern Gateway” to (855)533-1248.
