Lanes reopened in northwestern Dallas after fire at abandoned hotel

The westbound lanes of W. Mockingbird Lane were shut down near Stemmons Freeway as crew worked against the fire on the 12th floor.

DALLAS — West Mockingbird Lane has reopened after Dallas firefighters worked to put out a three-alarm fire at an abandoned building.

According to a WFAA source at the scene, the westbound lanes of Mockingbird near North Stemmons Freeway were blocked off Thursday morning.

Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) told WFAA that first responders were assigned at about 5:30 a.m.

Officials said the fire was coming from the 12th floor of an abandoned 15-story hotel. No one was in the building, but there was still furniture and other things that could've easily caught fire.

Authorities requested a third alarm to bring in more manpower. Over 100 firefighters and 25 heavy apparatus are at the scene.

Firefighters reported the flames being put out by 7 a.m. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
