DENTON, Texas — A 79-year-old using a motorized mobility scooter was fatally hit while operating the scooter in a roadway, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian crash around 8:26 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 on East McKinney Avenue in front of Mack Park, according to a press release from Denton police.
Police found that a pickup truck hit a 79-year-old operating a "motorized mobility device" in the roadway, the release states. The 79-year-old was taken to a hospital where he died, police said.
The victim was later identified as Eladio Santiago.
Traffic officers are investigating the incident, police said. The driver of the pickup remained on scene and in cooperating with the investigation, police said.
