DALLAS — Six children were hospitalized Saturday night after a two-vehicle crash on Ledbetter Road, Dallas police said.
Police responded to a crash around 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 near 1900 W. Ledbetter Road, Dallas police said in a press release.
A woman was driving a vehicle with seven passengers, including six minors, when a car driving at a high rate of speed hit the vehicle, police said.
A 4-year-old male, who was not in a child safety seat, was ejected from the car and taken to a hospital in critical condition. A 5-year-old male was seriously injured and taken to a hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue, the release states. The other four children were taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
Jose Castro, 20, was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault, two counts of collision causing serious injuries and two counts of collision involving injury, jail records show. Castro is also being held on an immigration hold, records show. Castro is being held in the Dallas County Jail on bonds totaling $120,000.
Castro and his passenger initially fled on foot but were caught in the neighborhood by officers and treated at a hospital, police said.
