3-year-old dies after North Texas crash caused by medical emergency, police say

The crash occurred Thursday, Sept. 12 after the driver suffered a medical emergency. The child died Sept. 17.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 3-year-old girl who was injured in a crash last week died, Arlington police said. 

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 11:26 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in the 300 block of N. Center Street, Arlington police said in a press release. 

Investigators found that the driver of a 2006 Toyota Avalon suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel, causing the car to crash into two metal bollards and a streetlight, the release states. 

The driver, a 35-year-old man and the car's passengers, a 67-year-old woman and a 3-year-old girl were taken to the hospital, police said. 

Investigators are working to determine if the 3-year-old was properly restrained at the time of the crash, police said.
