ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that sparked a fire, fully engulfing a Jeep and killing two people, officials said.

Police responded to a crash around 2:55 a.m. on Sunday in the 3600 block of W. Division Street and found a 2006 Jeep Commander had gone off the roadway and was on fire, according to a press release from Arlington Police.

The Arlington Fire Department responded to the crash and extinguished the flames, the release states. Officers found the remains of two people inside the vehicle, police said.

Due to the severity of the burns, the victims have yet to be identified, police said.

Investigators believe the car was traveling east on Division Street when it left the roadway, hitting a metal light pole and then continuing eastbound before hitting a tree and catching fire, the release states.
