ARLINGTON, Texas — Multiple westbound lanes of traffic shut down Tuesday following a deadly crash on I-30.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded to the westbound lanes of I-30 near the Highway 360 interchange to the report of a single-vehicle crash around 6:10 p.m.
Police say a Chevrolet Impala struck a concrete barrier separating I-30W from SH360S head one. The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Kilton Gus from Cedar Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
An unsafe lane change caused the crash, investigators said.
Traffic was diverted southbound to SH360. TxDOT cameras show heavy traffic congestion and multiple emergency vehicles on I-30.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while crews worked to clear the scene. However, just before 7 p.m., Arlington PD announced that one of the lanes was now open.
