Traffic tips for three 4th of July events in North Texas

Fireworks, fiery temperatures, and some fire food - all in store for North Texans this week as people celebrate!

DALLAS — Fireworks, fiery temperatures and some fire food - all in store for North Texans this week as people get ready to celebrate all over for the Fourth of July!

With everything going on, are you ready for the traffic?

A recent report from AAA showed an estimated 43 million people would take a road trip over the holiday weekend.

So, if you're making the trip back to North Texas in the next few days, the worst time to hit the road Tuesday, July 4, is between noon and 3 p.m.

AAA says it's best to leave before 11 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

And Wednesday, if you're headed back then, you should get on the road before 2 p.m.

If you're sticking around town, here are some of the heavy hitting celebrations:

Starting Monday night, with a nationally recognized fireworks show - Addison Kaboom Town! It's in Addison Circle Park - you can park for free in select garages located near Arapaho Road and the Dallas North Tollway.

Officials there warn it will cause some traffic delays, and you can sign up for texts to stay updated on road closures!

Then on Tuesday - The 58th Annual Arlington Independence Day Parade!

The Firecracker 5k starts at 7 a.m. and is followed by the parade at 9 a.m. in downtown Arlington. The route starts on west Mitchell street.

Then in Dallas, the Fair Park Fourth celebration -- the free event starts at 4:30 p.m. There will be fireworks, food, fun, games, music and more!

You'll be able to see the firework show from inside Cotton Bowl Stadium or across Fair Park. Parking will be $10.

Please stay safe as you celebrate! TXDOT is reminding everyone – if you're drinking, call an Uber, or get a sober driver lined up.
