ARLINGTON, Texas — On the court – WNBA basketball is as competitive as ever.
Off the court – the league’s fashion game is just as fierce.
“I think a lot of the girly girls are carrying a lot of their weight,” said Dallas Wings Center Kalani Brown. “Angel Reese, Nika Muhl, myself, Isabelle Harrison, Kysre Gondrezick."
The pre-game ensembles are now all the buzz from the designer pieces to the boutique finds.
Brown is just one of many who have made the WNBA Tunnel one of the hottest runways of the year.
“My style - it's simple and cute and I have a really nice shape so I don't accentuate much,” Brown said. “I let the body do the talking.”
And behind her iconic looks is Dallas Stylist Mackenze McDonald.
“I love working with her. Her personality is everything. She definitely lets me know. Like, I like this or rocking with this or I'm not really feeling this.”
The UNT fashion major started styling Brown and her wings teammate Teaira McGowan last year. The pair stand at a model-esque 6’6’ and 6’7 respectively.
“I hold the pants up to me to my chest and if they're not on the floor, they're not going to work,” McDonald said.
Her ability to find extended sizes in clothes and shoes has helped grow her client list.
“You have Chicago Sky, Isabelle Harrison, Seattle Storm, Joyner Homes,” she said.
McDonald says the key to landing a look is elevating each player's personality.
“I always think if you look good, you're gonna play good,” she said. “I love that everyone's actually very excited about the fashion they're excited to see, OK, what is she going to wear today.”
