DALLAS — Arike Ogunbowale can be celebrated as one of the greatest Dallas Wings players of all time.
Outside of WNBA rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, Ogunbowale has been another standout player this season, and on Thursday night, she's expected to break the Wings' franchise record for career points.
The Wings and Liberty will meet for the final time this season at 7 p.m. at College Park Center in Arlington.
Ogunbowale currently has 3,961 career points in just her sixth season in the league. That's just 10 points shy of Deanna Nolan's franchise-record 3,971 over her nine-year career with the Detroit Shock (the grandmother of the Wings).
Last season, Ogunbowale passed Nolan for most made three-pointers in Shock/Wings franchise history.
Ogunbowale is known for her scoring ability and clutch performances. In 2021, she earned her first All-Star Game MVP, and three years after that she won the award again, making her one of the few WNBA players to achieve this feat twice.
She also set the All-Star scoring record with 34 points playing against and beating the U.S. Olympic team this year.
Playing in her sixth season, Ogunbowale is the third-leading scorer in the WNBA with an average of 22.6 points per game this season.
With a promising future in young players like Jacy Sheldon and Maddy Siegrist, the Wings are developing a talented mix of youth and veterans.
“This is clearly her team and I think she has embraced that role and watched her put her arms literally and figuratively around our younger players," said Dallas Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb in a mid-season press conference.
Fans attending Thursday's matchup are encouraged to wear pink for the Wings' annual "Rock The Pink" breast cancer awareness game. You can buy tickets here.
The game will air on Bally Sports Southwest Extra and stream on Prime Video at 7 p.m.
