TEXAS, USA β Texans are known for not only for their Lone Star pride, but patriotism for the United States, sure.
But apparently that doesn't extend to the level of fandom of the country's soccer team, according to a study posted to X on Saturday.
Argentina, not the United States, is the most popular national soccer team in Texas, the study claimed. In fact, Argentina, led by Inter Miami star Lionel Messi, is the most popular national soccer team in the entire nation. The USMNT ranked fourth. The USWNT ranked 10th.
WorldSoccerShop.com compiled club sales data from January to July 1 and posted their findings, providing a state-by-state breakdown of which national soccer team is most popular around America.
Here are the top 10 overall best-selling national teams of 2024 in the United States:

- Mexico
- Brazil

It did not breakdown the rankings for Texas, specifically, but showed Argentina was the favorite.
Messi mania in Texas is real. When Inter Miami played Messi's first ever match outside of Florida, a Leagues Cup match in Frisco, the economic impact of the game brought $3 million to the city, officials said. Everywhere Messi goes in the United States sells out, so it's not all that shocking to see Argentina top the list.
The only nation that would realistically top Argentina for club sales in Texas is arguably Mexico. El Tri has a strong fanbase in Texas, especially in North Texas, where many of the team's friendlies are held (AT&T Stadium).
