Raccoon scurries on field, dodges trash can-wielding crew at Philadelphia Union-New York City FC match

"Raquinho the Raccoon" ducked, dipped, and dodged trash can-wielding stadium workers who were chasing to catch the animal.

CHESTER, Pa. — Major League Soccer had its own "black cat on the field at the Cowboys game" moment on Wednesday night.

Their furry field invader, however, was a raccoon that has since been dubbed "Raquinho the Raccoon."

Around the 20-minute mark of the match, the furry fella decided it was time to take over the show.

“This is marvelous entertainment,” MLS play-by-play announcer Callum Williams said during the game.

“At what point are we just rooting for him,” former MLS player Calen Carr, also on the call, responded.

Another angle was captured by a fan in the crowd:

The game paused for several minutes as the crews worked to capture the raccoon with the trash can and escort it off the field. The Union sent out an update saying that the raccoon was “put in good hands” and was safely released.

New York City FC went on to defeat the Union, 2-1.
