FRISCO, Texas — "The Moose" is ... almost loose.
After winning the season opener against San Jose, FC Dallas head coach told WFAA Petar Musa would be arriving in Dallas-Fort Worth on Sunday, Feb. 25 and start training immediately this week. When asked how long before Musa would see minutes in a game, Estevez had previously said he'd like Musa to get "three or four good trainings" before unleashing the 6-foot-3-inch forward on the pitch for 45 to 60 minutes.
Musa joined his teammates in training on Tuesday, starting his process to playing. Estevez kept to his word after Tuesday's training, saying Musa was fit and "if he has a good week, he'll be ready to go."
Musa comes to FC Dallas as the club's most expensive signing in its history – a reported 10 million euros with 3 million euros in add-ons ($14.1 million). Musa joins an FC Dallas attack that struggled to score in the 2023 season, but was able to find offensive contributions despite Jesus Ferreira, the club's leading scorer in 2023, missing in the opening match due to a left thigh injury.
Estevez said at Tuesday's training Ferreira and other injured players such as Paxton Pomykal, Tsiki Ntsabeleng were back as well.
Musa said he can't wait to get out onto the pitch and play in front of the FC Dallas fans.
"I feel very, very good," Musa said Tuesday. "I had my first session with the team and I'm very excited and looking forward to playing with the guys. I look forward to play in front of our fans at home. I was watching the last game and I'm happy we won in the end."
