HIGHLIGHTS: FC Dallas grab 8th straight home win over LA Galaxy

Petar Musa and Logan Farrington scored for FC Dallas on "Christmas in July" night.

FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas snagged their 8th win in a row at home against LA Galaxy on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd for "Christmas in July" night.

The match was practically gift-wrapped for FC Dallas, as they controlled possession in a dominant fashion, 79% to 21%. Goals from forwards Petar Musa and Logan Farrington gave FC Dallas the 2-0 victory.

Farrington’s one-touch shot from the right side of the area was kick-saved by goalkeeper John McCarthy but Musa was there for the putback into a wide-open net from the center of the area that gave Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Musa became the first FC Dallas player to score in three consecutive MLS regular season games since Jesús Ferreira in May 2023.

Farrington slipped behind the defense, ran onto a long arcing ball from Asier Illarramendi and beat McCarthy one on one for a goal that made it 2-0 in the 55th.

“I’m still hurt a bit about our last game versus Kansas City to be honest. What you saw today, playing against a very good team and coming off a loss against Kansas City, we saw that it could be different," FC Dallas interim head coach Peter Luccin said. "It says a lot about this team. I told you from the very first day, I’m very proud of them, with all of the adversity we face right now like injuries. I’m very happy about this win.”

The match never felt in danger for FC Dallas, with the only true dangerous scoring chance coming from a bending shot by Maruicio Cuevas from outside the 18-yard box. Even that shot sailed wide of the goal, but was the best look on goal for LA Galaxy the entire night.

“Peter (Luccin) has helped me out a lot with the mentality change and letting me know what my role is more on defense and offense. He's given me a little bit more freedom and tips here and there on what he wants to see from me," Farrington said. "I'm starting to understand the role I'm in a lot more. I'm also understanding my teammates a lot more so they're able to find me in better spots so I can do my job and score goals."

With the win, FC Dallas improves to 26 points on the season and trailing the No. 9 spot for the play-in by only four points (Austin FC and Minnesota United were tied at 30 points as of this writing).

“It’s very good. It was a hard one because we didn’t necessarily play badly on Wednesday, we just had a lot of chances that we didn’t finish," FC Dallas defender Sebastien Ibeagha said. "We got punished very late in the game and that’s kind of been the theme this year. It’s really good to finally put a good ninety minutes together and come out with a good result.”

Speaking of Austin FC, they come to town next on Wednesday to face FC Dallas in another Copa Tejas matchup.
