DALLAS — FC Barcelona and Club America are set to play a friendly match in Dallas next month.
The clubs announced the match would be played to support the victims of Hurricane Otis in Acapulco. It will be Barcelona's last match before their winter break and is scheduled just one day after they are set to host Almería in LaLiga action.
Club América, the side with the most Liga MX titles to their name, have already been confirmed champions of the regular season of the Closing Championship, and will be tops seeds in the playoffs, which finish the week before they play Barça.
These two clubs have played each other before – and in Dallas – too. The first time the two teams played was during the famous 1937 North American tour, and the most recent game between the sides was 12 years ago in August 2011 (also in Dallas).
"We greatly appreciate the interest of FC Barcelona and Club America to give this joy to all their fans in the United States, as well as their unconditional support for such a noble cause,” José Eshkenazi, CEO of Soccer Media Solutions, said.
The match will be broadcast globally, including Mexico and the United States, through Univision and Televisa.
The match will be Barcelona's second visit to the 90,000-capacity Cotton Bowl stadium. They played Juventus in a friendly there in the summer of 2022. The Spanish club also played its first ever "El Clasico" at AT&T Stadium against Real Madrid earlier this year.
