DALLAS — Travis Kelce may play tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, but the guy is clearly obsessed with Dallas sports.
Taylor Swift's boyfriend was spotted at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night, attending Game 2 of the NHL's 2024 Western Conference Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars in a suite with Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts -- an appearance quickly noted by observers on the game's TV broadcast and on social media alike.
Kelce's presence didn't go unnoticed by his Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes, either. In his own tweet on the matter, the Texas native and noted ride-or-die Dallas sports superfan jokingly told his teammate to "get out of my arena," where the two-time NFL MVP can be regularly seen sitting courtside and rooting for the Dallas Mavericks.
This, of course, isn't the first time Kelce's shown up for a recent Dallas sports playoff game. Last October, you may recall, Kelce was spotted in attendance at Globe Life Field watching the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the 2023 World Series.
He also has shown support for Dallas sports history, in a way. Late last NFL season, Kelce donned a throwback Dallas Texans jacket en route to a Chiefs game -- a winking nod to the Chiefs' origins here in North Texas before the team moved to Missouri.
He also, let's not forget, pleaded with Dallas Mavericks part owner Mark Cuban for a contract when Cuban suggested that Kelce's boo Swift date someone on his team instead of the Chiefs.
So what's the deal here? Is Kelce subliminally trying to get himself signed to the Cowboys? Probably not. Just last month, he signed an extension with the Chiefs that made him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.
More likely, Kelce just likes being part of the glitzy scene surrounding Dallas sports.
In fact, he was hardly the sole celebrity in the house for the Stars' game on Saturday. Joining Kelce in the very same suite at the game, in fact, were the Dallas-based star golfer Bryson DeChambeau, former Texas Rangers ace Cole Hamels and former Stars goalie Marty Turco.
Meanwhile, in another suite in the arena, Mavericks icon Dirk Nowitzki was also spotted rooting on the hometown team.
The only person missing from this equation? Swift herself.
Alas, she was in Portugal today, performing a concert in Lisbon that kept her away from the AAC.
Oh, well. Maybe next time?
